My application drop-down was the way I liked it before I decided that I wanted to install and kwin-bismuth.
But after installing bismuth I didn’t find the auto-tiling intuitive and so I had to dig a lot at my settings, and do a lot of exploratory testing with those setting
and even then I wasn’t sure what i was changing, and I haven’t achieved what I want.
At certain point, I changed the window decorations to Bismuth and then to Dream-blur-color-dark-Aurorae which I had downloaded, and then back to normal using the Global theme setting Breeze dark.
This is all to explain what I changed in my settings to have my applications drop down change. The menu you access with <super> hotkey.
Then if I scroll down and press the arrow right
the menu explodes to fullscreen while before it only opened a little menu beside the normal menu above.
if you create a new user does the same thing happen?
I actually got it to resume its normal behavior changing the window decorations back to by switching between Breeze and Plastik in the system settings > Appearance > Window Decorations.
But I guess I could create another user to test window decorations and it wouldn’t affect my main userspace
Maybe that way I can actually find what went wrong
Okay I found the culprit. The autotiling plugin I installed when I couldn’t quite understand how to get kwin-bismuth to snap windows to zones on the screen was treating my appliation menu-bar screens like application screens and fullscreening them.
Its Autotiling by Vaughan Milliman v.1.2.1 using kwin 5.27 features
I would love to whitelist it to see what happens since that is an option in the Autotiling extension. Hopefully it would ignore the application-menu but I don’t know the name of the application-menu itself. “KDE-menu” perhaps …
