Remote control: am I hecked?

My point is that reasonable people will disagree with that assertion, and given some people do get value from the remote desktop portal being available, is is better to put it in so some people get value, then nobody get anything.

Whatever the remote desktop portal is, sure. But, today, still, six months later, I get notifications asking me if I should allow nothing-in-particular to access nothing-in-particular every time I

  • swipe to switch desktops
  • interact with a gamepad with Steam
  • something I haven’t identified with KDE Connect, I guess

The dialog actually says the verbatim text “an application”. No reasonable person would ever call that a functioning dialog. The dialog steals focus. If I was a developer hooking this stuff up, I’d 100% be thinking “asking the user for permission for an app to access a resource, I need at minimum a text string identifying the application”. That’s the thing that didn’t happen, somehow. It’s not defensible.
