Remote name as folder name instead of full path

Greetings,

I am new here and i have switched to Dolphin a few years ago. I absolutely love it and have no plan to go back to thunar (loved it but dolphin works better for me these days.)

I have an issue that has been bugging me for a while and is probably me not finding it but i want to ask just in case it really doesn’t exists yet.

In thunar, remote path are displayed as the folder name alone. Dolphin instead shows the full path.

Here what i mean from thunar:

And what dolphin does:

Its a minor inconvenience but i find myself having to resize the side bar all the time because of this. When i resize the dolphin window, the side bar shrink (which is great and expected) but doesn’t grow back leaving the bar looking like this:

2025-10-09-15-56-00-196251862

rendering the name display useless.

Is there a missing settings somewhere i did not find ? Or is it a missing feature ?

Thanks for the help.

You can set labels to your partition or use x-gvfs-name mount option in fstab or mount command.

We could improve the default that show /media/$USER also.

My bad, i didn’t specify those were sshfs mounts. I can’t really give them partitions name.

I had a hunch that you could set it somehow in the fstab but didn’t find how. so many obscure parameter you can do ^^’.

The x-gvfs-name parameter worked perfectly ! All my remotes folders are nice and tidy in the bar now. HUGE Thanks ! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

No worries, it is way too hard to access currently, and undiscoverable.

This will document this for the next person, at least.
