Ripple delete and space selection

Hi,

I have been using Kdenlive for years, and it has several advantages over commercial video software like Davinci Resolve including easy inclusion of project snapshots in the project, support for WebP and more.

However, there are several areas of improvement that are currently annoying:

1- The guides set in the timeline (using the G keyboard shortcut) are not synced with clips when empty spaces are removed. For example, imagine we have a guide at the start of clip B and then we trim the end part of clip A and then we need to remove the space before B. Naturally, the guide should move leftward because B has moved to the left, but this is not the case and the guide stays at the constant point of timeline it is defined at (I noticed this issue has already been reported and is being worked on)

2- There should be delete option along with keyboard shortcut (similar to Davinci’s Shift + Del) to do ripple deletion, meaning to delete the requested clip and fill the created empty space with whatever comes next in the timeline, by shifting the following clip to the left.

3- Make empty spaces selectable (as in Davinci Resolve). This would be very intuitive and helpful for simple deletion or ripple deletion.

What do you think?

P.S. I have come a long way from posting this to mailing list (rejected), and then to GitHub (redirected to GitLab issues), and then to bugs.kde.org, then to discuss.kde.org!

And each of them required a separate account despite the existence of identity.kde.org, so I believe KDE’s account management for sister (subdomain) sites sucks.
