Screen Grab / Region Capture missing in Kdenlive 25.11.70 on KDE

Hi everyone,

I’m using Kdenlive version 25.11.70 on KDE Neon, and I can’t find the Screen Grab functionality anywhere in the UI.

According to the official documentation, the feature should be available under:

  • View → Screen Grab
    and settings under:

  • Settings → Configure Kdenlive → Capture → Screen Grab

However, in my version:

  • There is no “Screen Grab” entry in the View menu

  • There is no Capture → Screen Grab section in the Kdenlive configuration

  • There is no option to enable Screen Grab as a widget

  • I do not have a “Customize UI” / “Benutzeroberfläche anpassen” menu entry either

So currently, I cannot record a specific screen region directly inside Kdenlive.

Is this feature removed or disabled in recent builds for KDE Neon?
Is this a known issue, or is there a package/component missing on my system?
Any guidance would be appreciated!

You are using the daily build and not the official release. On Linux the region screen capture should work. Please try with the official daily AppImage from here: Index of /ci-builds/multimedia/kdenlive/master/linux

And you might need to use X11 if you’re currently using Wayland. Historically Wayland has not supported screen grabs well or at all due to the way it works.
