Scroling a png file

Recently I have posted the question how to obtain the previous version back because KDL cuts off a file that is bigger than the project dimensions to fit inside the dimensions of the project setup.

https://discuss.kde.org/t/previous-version-back-please/40677/2

I don’t like it to downgrade software so …

Now … I want to scroll a music sheet down to follow the music as I play along. The png file of this music sheet is - of course - larger than the hight of my project. So … does anybody know a work around this problem since KDL does no longer allow me to import bitmaps with dimensions that are exceeding the project setup ?

This is a feature, not a bug

Look at the Settings:

Make sure to enable Keep clip original frame size on import. That tells Kdenlive to not scale the image when importing.

If you want to keep this global setting but change it only for a specific image, enable built-in effects, then in the default Transform effect click on

We did tell you that wouldn’t fix your problem. And what would.

If you really won’t read the documentation, please at least read your own old posts where you deliberately configured this behaviour yourself.

It doesn’t work, both of what you sugest.

Hmm, can you share your project file and the PNG so that I can test it here?

It’s a .zip file containing the audio file, the images and the KDL file. You can find it here : https://fileport.io/UDwLQHbmnkde

Thanks for the project file.

This is what you need to do to scroll the PNG:

  • In the Transform effect on clip in the bin click on the third Alignment button from the right. This will scale the .PNG to fit the project dimensions.
  • Switch off the built-in Transform effect on the clip in timeline and add a normal one.
  • Scale the clip to the size you want and position it as needed.
  • Now you can use the Transform effect on the clip in the timeline to scroll the note sheet using keyframes or whatever.

Hallo @berndmj

Is this a bug with the built-in Transform effect?

Thank u thank u. Took me a while but i got it Thank u.

No, but in my first tests something made the built-in effect jitter when scaling. So I switched it off in the effects panel, added a normal one and scaled the PNG to fill the screen. I couldn’t repeat that behavior, so I’m letting it slide for now

No worries. Glad I could help. Please mark this thread as solved by flagging my post as the solution. That helps other users when going through the forum. Thanks!
