I’m looking at a pdf, Tools set to Text Selection, box icon in upper corner says " select text" , cursor is the big I bar, but I cannot select text – therefore can’t copy. Is this a bug or do I have setting wrong?
hi, welcome.
you may be in a PDF with digital rights settings that will not let you copy from it.
try a known PDF with no DRM enabled on it.
Thanks. I tried several PDFs, including ones from my scanner, no help. How would I tell if there’s a DRM?
My memory may be bad, but I think this used to work in Okular. I have the latest version installed.
the way i can usually tell, is that i can’t select any text ![]()
so when you try the rectangular region, does it find text in that mode?
what version are you using and what is the operating system?
if linux, what is the output of kinfo
Windows 11, Okular v 25.08.1
Rectangle select/copy works fine, but copies as graphic, not text.
You should be able to select/copy text, right? I don’t want to go back to Acrobat . ..
yes, mine will select the text within the rectangle and even read it out to me if i want…
kubuntu 24.04 with v 23.08.5
i’m on an older version of the plasma desktop
How about creating a live usb stick of your choice of Linux and do what you’re doing in windows in Linux. You cab still access your c: drive while using the live usb stick to test drive Linux.
