Hi, I’m new here (not to KDE, just to the community 
). I’m a Windows 10 EOL refugee, at least that’s what I tell myself (almost a year and a half ago, Windows 10’s impending EOL was my main motivation for getting into Linux). My setup is “I just want to use my computer I don’t want to spend hours ricing KDE.” (*Still manages to spend hours ricing KDE*) Also “how much can I do with what’s provided by default + custom color schemes + shell prompt?”

Plasmoids on the desktop are the built-in network speed widget (customized), disk usage, and a bunch of system monitor sensors showing detailed CPU, RAM, GPU, and battery info. It’s insane how much System Monitor can actually monitor. I also have Apdatifier in the system tray for update notifications so I actually remember to update my computers haha.
(My laptop’s screen is actually 15.6” but fastfetch rounded the size up just because.)

Welcome to the Dark side, why did it take you so long?
To join the KDE forums or Linux?
I sort of ignored the KDE forums for a while and only recently became properly aware of their existence.
I’m also 17 so probably a lot younger than most people here and I didn’t really start using computers at all until a few years ago. For a while I was slightly scared of Linux because I heard tales of its complexity and potential to break. I have since learned that Linux is not that complicated and actually makes sense, plus it breaks way less than Windows.

This time I made a video ~1.30min on Solus Linux. I used GPU recorder and Kdenlive for the purpose. It’s a display of my upcoming icon theme GreyStone - circle version.

Oh wow that’s a cool setup, how did you get it that transparent? (Reminds me of Aero Glass on Windows 7 ngl)

i change up a lot, but this is my current setup. i’m a fan of the desktop widgets a la Windows Vista, more than anything else 
it’s mostly default atm, but i like the aero-style borders and buttons you can get with Klassy & a modified blur desktop effect.

Nothing particularly fancy - I’m a simple man that just needs things to work. The only thing I generally do is set the distro to the breeze theme (if it’s not), move the taskbar to the top, add to it the power & memory widgets and most used apps. Then add the network + CPU widgets to the desktop. Lastly change those default kindergarten backgrounds

i believe i just changed the blur setting in Window Management > Desktop Effects & the theme was Gently Dark
got kvantum working so the theme looks much better. also changed icons & wallpaper. using Gently Blur Dark window decorations

I like how Breeze looks like. I would like to tweak a little the windows to have transparency, but I don’t know how to do that
