Shortcut interfering with Gaming after upgrading to 6.2

Hi,

I’ve recently moved to Plasma 6.2.0 (Arch). I am now having trouble playing games - the Application Launcher on the desktop will come up everytime I - (SHIFT hold then ALT) - left side but does the same on right. I have looked through all the shortcuts and cannot find anywhere to turn off or change.

Any help appreciated - hopefully it is something I have missed.

When you right click on application launcher and go to Configure Application Launcher settings - keyboard shortcuts - there is nothing there. If I add a new shortcut the old one still works.

I have basically the same issue. I also have the behavior, that the keybind sometimes does not register. It doesn’t behave consistently. I also only noticed the issue after updating to KDE 6.2.0 on Fedora. I exported all available keybinds to a file and searched for “shift+alt”, but could not find this specific bind.

I’m having the same issue in Tumbleweed with 6.2

I think what’s happening is that KDE now uses Shift+Alt as an alternative to the super/meta key, so that’s why you cannot find the relevant keybind.

I do not know how to stop this association.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi. Same problem here. KDE opens the Applicationsmenu and “tabs” out of the game. Even with gamemoderun, etc.

If you need a specific example:

  1. Play Helldiver 2
  2. Run from bugs or robots
  3. try to evade enemy by jumping to the side
  4. menu opens and game loses focus
  5. PANIC!
  6. MORE PANIC!!
  7. die by random teammate which tries to ‘save’ you :smiley:

On further investigation it seems to be a keyboard layout thing. KDE now treats Shift + Alt as equal to the Meta key.

But because it’s part of the base keyboard layout, I cannot find a way to change it, it’s not a shortcut per se.

Same here.

I found enabling “Meta is mapped to Left Win” in Keyboard-Key Bindings-Alt and Win behavior will solve this. Don’t know what it costs :melting_face:

Haha same thing happened to me except it was more like:

  1. Play Helldivers 2
  2. Run from bots at extract
  3. Get set on fire from friendly-fire napalm
  4. Die! Because you tried to dive instead only opened menu.
  5. Game ends because you were the last one alive and had tons of samples
