  1. Click start
  2. Type Shortcut..
  3. Open Shortcuts
  4. In Shortcuts, search layout…
  5. Click Keyboard Layout Switcher

Standard is Meta +Alt +L

I’m sure that the main keyboard is MetaAltK

With Plasma 6, a lot of System shortcuts moved from ‘ctrl’ to ‘meta’.

You can check with a context click on the keyboard icon in your systray, configure - and look for the switching shortcut there.

you can also just use the input method toggle in the system tray.

That’s “switch to next”.

That’s “switch to last-used”.

If you have exactly 2 layouts, then both shortcuts do the same

You’re mildly autistic.

But that reaction wasn’t abnormal IMO…

Some of us learned something from the switch from early word processing (no mouse, just a DOS screen, type ‘wordstar’ and remember how to do stuff) to GUI word processors.

You know, the ones that have ICONS for ‘copy’ and ‘cut’ and ‘paste’… however utterly ridiculous I think that is, I still see people do this… there’s a phrase I think applies ‘unable to think beyond the glass’.

My wife will be looking at a document, her hand will go (blindly, because she’s still looking at the screen) hunting for the mouse… and then move the mouse to hunt for those icons. It’s comical to watch, and annoying.

So your reaction to that comment is not even slightly exaggerated  I think it’s hard sometimes to remember the variation in skill levels - for someone comfortable with a keyboard, touch typing fairly comfortably (though I still can’t quite get the number row down pat after half a century) it’s really a pain to reach for the mouse (and the usual position for the Escape key while we’re at it…).

Anyway, you can enter direct shortcuts for each layout, but you can also set a plasmoid shortcut to open that dialog without having to click on it…

Only one problem they don´t work…

But this one does:

do you have any conflicts?

you can go to settings > shortcuts and type ctrl+shift into the search bar to see what other shortcuts are already defined.

I had the same problem. In my case it helped to set the shortcuts and then re-login.
