Skrooge does not recognize password after attempted ubuntu upgrade

so where is the skrooge password stored? I still can’t get into the latest version. . . asking for password, never asked before

Yes, sorry it was not clear.
Forcing the install of that specific version worked for me. I can now open my files again.

sudo flatpak update --commit=bbaaefe55b89db87fcd7f3ff6bd7b791f5ae539947b85313e487f9b1a0fd2fd7 org.kde.skrooge

I tried to downgrade flatpak but I have this error:

error: Server returned status 404: Not Found

Is there an update ?

I have to admit that so many of the solutions to my problem of my Skrooge password not being recognized were unintelligible to me and I gave up trying to fix that account although it had a lot of historical data I needed.

I opened a new account and backfilled it manual for the prior three months and just kept using that. I stopped reading the suggestions from KDE.

Then I upgraded my Ubuntu to 26.04 LTE and miraculously my old account and password became usable so I manually combined it with the new account I had started. A lot of work, and I am still finding the occasional duplicate entry, but all works again.

Whether some of the suggestions from KDE would have worked I will never know. I have only moderate Ubuntu capabilities and fear doing anything in Terminal that I do not fully understand so I just gave up and did a workaround. That the original came back was a pleasant surprise.
