Sound settings don't survive a reboot

Plasma Version 5.27.5.
Debian 12.

I go into System Settings → Audio, and set up my sound inputs/outputs how I want, disabling what I don’t want. Upon reboot, all of my settings go away, and I’m back to whatever got set by whatever order things were detected.

This only happens on reboot. It does not happen if I log out, and log back in.

It was doing this in Debian 11 as well, and I was hoping the upgrade to 12 would resolve the issue. It did not.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I’m no Debian guy, but I would suspect that you are missing a group membership. The group file is /etc/group and I would look at pipewire, but one of the Debian folks should know more.

You may be onto something there, but unfortunately, adding myself to the pipewire group didn’t resolve the issue. There may be another group I’m missing.

Thanks for your input, though.

Try the audio group.

I am already in that group.
