Sound volume seriously messed up on Debian 13 w/ KDE

This is a fresh OS install, I think I only ever rebooted the machine once before. Tonight I rebooted my machine to disable ERP in the BIOS. After the reboot my display settings had somehow reverted from 1080P to 4k (easily resolved), but what was worse was that the sound controls in the OS no longer worked. I had “HDMI” selected in the little audio panel tool in the lower-right of my Taskbar, but whether I muted it or turned it up or down made no difference to the sound coming from VLC, which could only be controlled with my TV remote. I even turned the sound all the way down in VLC and it did not affect the sound (which I could still hear) even though VLC said it was at 0%. So I closed VLC and re-launched it, and now there was NO sound. I rebooted and sound was back, but it still could only be controlled with the TV remote. I went to “Configure Audio Devices” in the KDE audio settings panel and clicked “Test” next to my HDMI device, and when I clicked “Front Left” it said “File or data not found”. I’m at a loss here, I didn’t do anything with the audio settings or make any significant changes to the OS/Desktop settings, I just rebooted and all this stuff happened. Anyone have any ideas what might be happening?

I accidentally tagged this neon but this is Plasma running on Debian 13 Trixie.
