Special Characters in Plasma

A good few years back, there was some work done to make adding special characters on Linux much easier in Plasma ;

Unfortunately it looks like it was reverted? Will we ever see this in Plasma 6? Until then, if anyone can just give me a clue on how to add special characters - umlauts, graves, etc, I’d be hugely grateful. Alt Key combos don’t seem to work.

This feature ultimately had to be removed as it wasn’t compatible with the way input methods work in our space. This is a major topic that needs attention before really cool features like that can be landed.
