Spectacle causes plasmashell to crash

I have a really weird issue on 3 different systems running Kubuntu 24.10. 2 were upgraded from 24.04 LTS, and one is a fresh virtual machine.
On all 3 of them, when i generate a notification with Spectacle (for example copy something to clipboard) and then delete this notification, or clear all notifications, the entire plasmashell coredumps.
This did not happen in the 24.04 LTS of Kubuntu, and I confirmed it’s specifically the Spectacle notifications that cause this behavior. No other notification cause it to crash.

Spectacle Version 24.05.2
KDE Frameworks Version 6.6.0
QT Version 6.6.2 (built against 6.6.2)
The wayland windowing system

I checked if this has to do with wayland. It does not, it also happens when using an X Plasma session. However it crashes harder.

Should I report this as a bug? Normally I would just see it as misconfiguration of my system but the same behaviour on 3 different machines is starting to look suspiciously like a bug…

if one of those notifications was to speak a phrase in addition to play a sound, then it can get weird.

but play a sound and show a popup seem to play nice enough together.

I upgraded to Kubuntu 25.04 and the problem has disappeared. Perhaps something in the 24.10 software repo is not quite compatible :slightly_smiling_face:
