Status panel pop up resets itself to zero size

running up to date fedora 40 workstation kde spin.

the pop up panels on the status bar, volume, network etc, keeps resetting to zero size.

I can get the panel to display normally by mousing about till the “top-right” window resize button appears, grabbing it and then it can be resized so you have a badly aligned panel, then grab the panel and move it to where you would expect.

but then it resets to “zero size” after a minute or so.

selecting the default “breeze” theme doesn’t seem to do anything, was pretty vanilla, just changed icons and font.

looks like this

This is an old Qt 6.7 bug that is also present in F41 kde-live. Once resize, the bug does not come back here. You may also try to delete the panel and select default panel after to start fresh.

We have to wait for the correction and we have no idea how-when will get it.

It is worst, not to say severe under kde Framework 6.2.

ok, fingers crossed for a speedy fix!
will give your tips a go in the meantime.

This is 485456 – With Qt 6.7, System Tray popup is inappropriately resized to a tiny nub. It’ll be fixed in Plasma 6.0.5.

Given the severity, distros should probably backport it ASAP.

Today’s updates in F41 (Rawhide) came with the latest kde framework version: 6.2.0. No bug to report with system tray, nor with the source of the bug here: The floating switch.

Operating System: Fedora Linux 41
KDE Plasma Version: 6.0.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.2.0
Qt Version: 6.7.0
Kernel Version: 6.9.0-0.rc7.58.fc41.x86_64 (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: Wayland

The fix is in F40 testing repo. It was part of KF6 patche yesterday in F41. This means that today’s daily ISO is bug free: Fedora-KDE-Live-x86_64-Rawhide-20240507.n.0.iso
