I went into the installed applications in Discover and uninstalled Steam when it wasn’t working properly at all and when I did that, it was still showing in my start menu, while not showing as being installed anymore. I have the Ubuntu repository version of Steam installed. Still, it will not open if I just select the icon saved on the taskbar, instead, I have to go into Discover and scroll through the installed applications to find Steam and it will then open when launching from there even though it is in the start menu. When opening Lutris, the version of Steam that is being made available to Lutris is a version of the Steam installation that does not have access to any additional drives beyond the boot drive, but when I’m going directly through Steam by going through the installation shown in Discover, that one does give access to external drives. I don’t know what the heck is going on as it is extremely weird. If I remove the saved task on my taskbar for Steam and open up the install that works going through Discover, it would show up on the taskbar and I could save it, but then when I shut down Steam and go to re-open it from the task that was just saved, it will provide an error saying that it’s not installed.
What happens when you run the command steam
?
and can you do apt list '*steam*'
via terminal
Also, as far as I know, this shouldn’t be asked from here, but in Ask Ubuntu (mainly if you have Ubuntu or its official flavors) or in a subreddit, like r/linuxquestions.
