Strange behavior of kde plasma 6.4.5

I have a problem. I’m running CachyOS with KDE Plasma 6.4.5.
Here are my system details:

  • Operating system: CachyOS Linux

  • KDE Plasma version: 6.4.5

  • KDE Frameworks version: 6.19.0

  • Qt version: 6.10.0

  • Kernel version: 6.12.52-2-cachyos-lts (64-bit)

  • Graphics platform: Wayland

  • CPU: 16 × AMD Ryzen 7 7735HS with Radeon Graphics

  • Memory: 32 GiB RAM (30.6 GiB usable)

  • GPU 1: AMD Radeon 680M

  • GPU 2: AMD Radeon RX 7600S

  • Manufacturer: ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC.

  • Product name: ASUS TUF Gaming A16 FA617NS_FA617NS

Now, I’ve noticed three issues that might be related to each other:

  1. Sometimes, after using the system for a while and then suspending it, the Force Blur and Smooth Minimization effects disappear on 3 out of 4 virtual desktops.

  2. When using Facebook (only Facebook), if I watch a video, I can’t switch to another browser tab for about 40 seconds — the Facebook tab itself works fine, but all other tabs are frozen. After about 40 seconds, everything returns to normal on its own.

  3. When using YouTube, specifically when browsing Shorts (the short videos), after watching around six older ones, clicking on another Short causes the page to reload three times, and instead of the selected Short, a different one from the same channel gets loaded.

For all three of these issues, I checked the dmesg logs, and there are no errors.

Is 6.4.5 a typo? I also use CachyOS, Plamsa 6.5.2 is the current version.

Any reason you haven’t updated? Maybe your problem is fixed?

More to the point, using a rolling distribution - a topic that does come up in the forums from the developers quite frequently…

Your system simply is in a completely unsupported state if it is not synchronised.

The only valid positions are:

  1. Using a STABLE distribution which fixes on an LTS version of Plasma until the next distribution upgrade.
  2. Synchronising and using the latest available repository packages.

I updated to version 6.5.2 and the same thing

But to use an LTS version of KDE Plasma 6.x in CachyOS, I would have to switch to Kubuntu 22.04 or 24.04.

That is very true. CachyOS will never have LTS versions simply because it’s a rolling release distribution. Whereas Kubuntu isn’t.

Did you just update KDE or everything together to the newest available versions?
