Strange issue with the ALT key

I have a strange issue with the ALT key

I’m using OpenSUSE Plasma 6.0.4 on Tumbleweed.

There is certain online browser based game that I play regularily. The alt key fires a secondary weapon.

Now I wanted to ‘reset’ my home directory so I wiped it completey and recreated it. Ever since I did that the alt key doesnt work in this game. I’ve tried Chrome and Firefox - same result.

Curiously in the same browsers using an online keyboard test page, the ALT key work fines. Also the ctrl key is used in this game and that is fine. Just an issue with ALT.

So I logged out and started a new session with ICEWM instead. I also used a live GNOME Desktop usb stick. In both cases the ALT key was fine in the game.

Whilst in my Plasma workspace shortcuts that need ALT like ALT+F2 work okay.

I’ve tried looking through keyboard shortcut bindings but can see nothing relevant.

Does anyone have ideas what the problem could be or how to debug this further?

Firefox might be trying to access the menu when you try to press alt.

Can you check if this also happens if you disable that option?
