The cpu is on the same AM4 socket and all I had to do was get a new motherboard. Well now its extremely unstable. I was working on a project for my game and I was getting a bunch of crashes mainly with the glitch effect. After a while I cant even open the project I was working on.
Everytime I try to open it just freezes here and then closes after like 10 seconds
The CPU change per se is not likely to make a difference (5600X and 5700X are very similar).
The motherboard change might make a difference but the GPU seems like the most likely culprit, if you’re on Linux. The RX9000 series have had various problems in recent kernels.
Bazzite. I have not had problems with it that I have not had with the 6700xt. But Kdenlive worked perfectly fine on the old gpu.
maybe some cache files or something from the OLD gpu is causing problems. I don’t know. But I REALLY don’t want to uninstall in fear I might lose my project files along with it. Will I lose my kdenlive project files if I reinstall?
Normally you can do a reinstall that doesn’t overwrite your home directory.
However, you should have a backup of all your important files. (Otherwise, how are you going to recover your work if your SSD dies or your machine is stolen?)
Before doing anything like that, it would be interesting to try swapping back to your old GPU without reinstalling, so you can determine whether the new GPU is the problem or not.
Maybe, but maybe it’s an issue with your GPU in the latest kernel, in which case reinstall won’t help. On the Fedora forums there have been a fair number of issues with AMD GPU drivers in recent kernel versions.
If it was a GPU issue than my old projects which contain WAY more effects and stuff would be crashing as well. But they load perfectly. Im no expert but the way it consitantly crashes over and over again. maybe its a bug with kdenlive. Problem is that its a autosave file. Is there any way I can send you the autosave file and the project files and you can open it and see if it works(Im sorry if thats to much and if thats a big ask but id mean alot)
I uninstalled the flatpak version and instead used the app image. Seems alot different maybe the version i was using was out of date or something because this looks alot more clean.
