Sync video clips to a reference audio file

I want to make a music video. I have an audio file for the song and want to film a number of video clips where I sing in sync with the playback of the audio file. Can I sync these video clips with the song audio file? Apparently often many want to sync audio with video as reference. Here it is the other way around.

Hello and welcome to the forum.
Audio track sync is possible. See here: Right-Click Menus — Kdenlive Manual 24.12 documentation and follow the steps Set Audio Reference and Align Audio to Reference

The audio track sync will be an autocorrelation, so that’s really only going to work with ‘very nearly identical’ signals - it’s unlikely to do very well at matching your singing to recorded music unless you’re an extraordinary mimic and can match all the sounds in the original (in which case you might as well just use the original, because nobody will believe you’re not just lip-syncing anyway!).

If you have the ability to record the original audio as a separate track to your own voice, but in time with the action in the video, then you could use that with track sync to align the clips.

Otherwise you’re probably back to old school methods, like using a clapper board to give you a time sync signal, or re-dubbing your voice in post as you sing along to the video that you produced.
