System Tray Performance

Hey,
I switched a while ago from MATE to KDE and really like the more developed Desktop. However when comparing those two desktop environments the main thing I miss from MATE is its speed. For example on MATE when opening a widget in the system tray it instantly opens. When doing the same on KDE there is a significant lack between clicking and the widget opening which makes your whole laptop feel much less performant than it actually is. Is this how the response time usually is? Or are there any options to increase performance?

It might you plasma theme, that is not very performant, like the ones based on kvantum usually.
We can see a almost ~1 second delay between the click and the panels opening, that’s not usual and not happening normally.

You can switch to breeze and see it that changes things, that would confirm it.

Thanks! I should have tried this. Yeah this makes it much more performant! I used the Materia theme before. Maybe only the network widget takes a bit longer but it is much better now. Are there any options to tweak to make it even more performant (I already tried animation speed). I’m very happy with this :+1:

The animation speed is this, but here it is clearly a bug/performance issue in Materia theme.
You can report this to the authors of Materia perhaps they can do something.
That’s the FOSS way.

From what I’m seeing in you gif / video it’s very responsive.
