Tagging Files With Mounted Samba 3 Share

Hi All,

I am on ubuntu studio 24.04 with Plasma 5.27.12

I have a synology NAS with some Samba Shares with Media.

I would like to get tagging working with the files in the samba mounts so I can quick filter by tags (event name, date, etc). I have baloo enabled to index the mount point (file content indexing disabled). Tagging works with files on the main file system. I also have verified that I can use setfattr/getfattr in a terminal at the mounted drive and tags are stored in user.xdg.tags. dolphin however does not seem to pick up on the tags while browsing the mount point (fstab or automount). right click properties on the files does not show anything related to attributes and the file info panel shows nothing. The AssignTags context menu works though! And Selecting Tags for searching works!

Is there any way to get this working better with dolphin?

Thanks,

-Trevor

To Update: I was able to get dolphin to see the tags by using bindfs to re-fuse the samba mount to another mount point and then navigating in that.
