I just finished reading Thom Holwerda’s hilarious article on OSnews about being paid to use Windows 11 for a month from the perspective of being a “switcher” moving away from Linux. It’s a great read; I encourage everyone to stop right now and go read it!
As a long time user of kde plasma and masos I find your list of problems with macos hard to understand.
Your critique of windows matches my experience.
I have lots of ram and storage on my mac, don’t use cloud storage at all.
Mac apps are responsive.
The ui visuals are fine.
3rd party services that I use work.
Windows management is workable, but plasma’s is far better.
I know that historically window management on OSX was pretty spartan. Its gotten a lot better in recent versions, so maybe they where used to an old version of OSX and has not tested it recently?
But yeah some of the points about Apple still stand. I don’t think their UI is that bad. Its not the best to be sure but its not horrible, and app performance seems ok?
A macOS feature that I use a lot is the Hidden all focused App Windows and Hidden all none focused App Windows.
I don’t use a Mac personally but my mum does, so my experiences are based on what I observe from that lol.
The other important thing that macOS has going for it is that once all my none techy relatives had Macs I no longer get IT support calls from them. Admittedly they moved from Windows to macOS.
For most people Macs Just Work™.
