Every time I reboot, or even after some time, the X11 scale setting stops affecting applications. When this happens, apps look like this.
To fix it, I have to change the setting to “Scale by system” and then change it back to “scaling themselves.”
After doing that, the scaling works again, but after a while it stops working once more.

How can this be fixed? I have to reapply the settings every time, which is inconvenient.
