Theming Flatpaks on Cosmic

I’ve been trying Cosmic DE out on Pop_OS!

How can I change the icons and theme of Dolphin?

It’s installed to ~/.local/share/flatpak/

I have Flatseal but have no idea what setting to change.

I’d like to use the system icons and the Fusion Qt theme, not Breeze.

Things I’ve tried suggested by LLMs and old articles turned up by Google don’t work, installing to ~/.local/ seems to be non-standard and not well documented.

I installed Cosmic onto another machine which was running Fedora with KDE, and changing the icons there was simple, just change them in KDE and log out and into Cosmic. This worked for the native RPM install, and then the Flatpak picked up the theme change.

Theming Qt apps like Fooyin was no problem, there are options in the settings.

Perhaps KDE apps could have something similar, options in the apps settings “use system icons” and choose “Breeze, Fusion, default”.

I see it might have something to do with some files like KDEGLOBALS. Is there some guide to this kind of file?

I also tried installing DEB Dolphin in Cosmic and it was some ancient version and no icons loaded at all, looked quite strange, like a wet cat.

there we go, kdeglobals copied into .config

simple as.

[Icons]
Theme=Cosmic
