This Week in Plasma: beefed-up Window List widget - KDE Blogs

Welcome to a new issue of This Week in Plasma!

This week the Plasma team continued polishing up Plasma 6.6 for release in a week and a half. With that being taken care of, a lot of fantastic contributions rolled in on other diverse subjects, adding cool features and improving user interfaces. Check ’em out here:

Reading “window list” I first thought you were talking about the alt tab window switcher. Regarding the alt tab switcher one thing immediately crossed my mind: it feels slow.

Now I’m wondering if this is only my feeling/my old PC (core i5 gen6) or if there is definitely room for improvement.

On the same machine on windows 11 the alt tab pop-up appears instantly. On plasma, especially first usage after boot it has a noticeable delay until it appears.

Just me or should I open a bug report?

Other then that: thanks for all your hard work and the nice summary, as always.

@friedreich, I don’t know what component you would need to profile, but running hotspot on whatever renders it might provide some empirical data, if you want to compare with me.

@ngraham I would like to bring your attention to the bug “Using a keyboard shortcut set in Window Rules does not work if application has more than one window” ( https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=502561) which I reported almost a year ago and which has been confirmed.

Thanks in advance.
