Welcome to a new issue of This Week in Plasma!
This week was heavy on improvements for both the user interface and also performance, helping Plasma 6.8 to shape up quite nicely:
Discover’s background notifier process now uses much less memory when it checks for updates. (Méven Car, KDE Bugzilla #509180)
To be precise, it uses a little less memory when it checks for distro upgrades, and now release this memory afterwards (it was kept it previously), lowering discover updater daemon memory footprint.
Is this the first step to have AI in Plasma?
Best hope not. 60% of peeps do not like nor want AI, myself included. FYI you don’t need AI to create a function like that.
Just look at the change itself. It’s a net code removal.
Let’s not be silly. 
[citation needed]. This anti-AI moral panic, spread mostly by Americans, has already become more annoying than the AI hype promoted by (also usually American) corporations.
As seen in this very thread, it’s heading into the direction where every new algorythm trying to customize something to the user is going to be called “AI” and frowned upon by the anti-AI crowd.

Well, regardless of what you think happened, here’s the record of what actually happened:
That means 77 lines were added and 177 were removed. So there are now 100 fewer lines. Hence, a net removal.
Those people should verify what actually happened before speculating about what might have happened.
Let’s try to avoid turning this into yet another anti-AI/pro-AI/anti-pro-AI/pro-anti-AI thread.
The point is, the change includes no AI functionality so the entire discussion is moot. Let’s all discuss something real, rather than an unrelated topic that provokes strong emotions which make our brains turn off when we feel them.
Actually know your facts and do the research yourself. over 60% around the world not just America HATE AI.
“Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof” (or something like that)
i.e.: you make the claim, you have to provide the proof, not us.
Otherwise it’s just anecdote.
And yes, I’m gonna do as requested and stop addressing you (probably forever).
Disclaimer: I’m not anti-AI nor pro-AI. I think it has its uses but shouldn’t be blindly trusted. My issue is more with the AI companies and the damage they are doing to the tech world (from slop “bug finding” to the ridiculous price increases due to their hogging all the hardware).

If this is serious question: No. This is pretty much calculating an average value over time. It’s more like saving in games and comparing stats between game saves, if you dont mind the gamery example.
When using the system in a language other than English, you can now search for and find System Settings pages using keywords in English as well as the current language. (Sergey Katunin, systemsettings MR #418)
Wasn’t this the case already previously, unless there was a regression recently? I am running Plasma 6.6.4 with a French locale and I can search System Settings pages using English keywords.
It was already the case for the search field inside System Setting itself. This merge request added it to the KRunner search that can find System Settings pages.
I originally made the same mistake while reviewing the merge request!
Strange, as searching with English keywords for System Settings (and other desktop entries) also works in Kickoff and KRunner for me on 6.6.4.
Edit: this is also the case with Plasma 6.7.4 and Frameworks 6.29.0

Why would this matter? If people are expressing an opinion, is it less worthy of consideration if a significant number of them happen to be American?
