To hide Kate editor's bar at/around top that has some split tool icon

How do we hide Kate editor’s bar at/around top that has some split tool icons where the filename tabs also sit in this bar ?

Try hiding this bar is so hard (only) after the latest update

Thanks much before

‘We’ might not even be using the same operating system…

But I hide/show Kate’s toolbars in the <ins>S</ins>ettings ▶ Toolbars Shown menu…

I’m curious why you’ think it’s so hard only after the latest update… though I’m not on the bleeding edge:

kinfo

Happy that the hunch is correct; it only happens after latest update.
So hits hard block no idea how to resort to solution as the system here cannot obtain older version, being in roll-based OS

Quite.

It’s actually quite possible to downgrade a single package, it’s just not often a good idea. There’s a Manjaro tool that makes it slightly simpler, but there’s debate over whether that was a good idea in the first place… as Phil will generally jump on any critical workflow issues quickly and come up with a slightly better dirty fix to keep you going until upstream fixes the issue.

This is available for Manjaro (rolling). It is a very ‘sharp’ tool for pinpoint control, but obviously that sharp tool is dangerous and comes with significant risks.

Certainly only really interesting for critical bugs to your flow, and an awareness that you put your system into an unsupported state (i.e. partial upgrade) which can cause complicated and hard to diagnose issues.

Please try

Keep hoping the latest update will have it reverted back to the correct behavior,
unfortunately till date, the latest Kate in mainstream repo of OS distribution, still showing and behaving in inability to hiding the bar such

You didn’t manage to mention what your last update was.

Certainly in KWrite Version 26.04.0 kwrite, the tab bar doesn’t hide with no tabs because of the permanent icons.
