I recently upgraded my computer and decided to try the latest build, 24.05.1. My last install was 23.08.0, and that was a nice, stable build. Everything was going smoothly until I tried replacing one of the clips in my timeline that I have replaced every other week for 4 years. This build complained about the framerate (I’ve used the same video source for quite a while, and other video clips I just downloaded from the same source are working fine), and said it is not usable for editing, and suggested transcoding. I think, okay. I’ve done this manually before. So, It tell it to do it, and it transcodes and replaces the clip, but then complains about that clip. So it keeps of up the cycle of complaining and replacing, never satisfied.
I found that if I inserted the clip on my old machine with the older version, it accepted the clip, no complaints. And when I open the file with that inserted clip on the new machine, no complaints. It is only when I try to insert the new clip on the new machine in the new version.
I don’t know if it is related, but the rendering is also having issues. It isn’t tracking the remaining time well, and seems to get stuck or stalled towards the end, showing 0fps.
So, I have resorted to going back to a previous version (23.08.05) which seems to be behaving much better on the new machine.
I hope this information helps.
