Used dnf instead of dnf5

I installed fedora 42 some months ago and used dnf update instead of dnf5 many times. I recently discovered just the other day when I ran dnf update instead of dnf5 that a lot of packages were updated that dnf 5 did not update and was taken back to say the least. Do I need to reinstall fedora 43 kde completely or can I get dnf5 to completely handle all updates and why did dnf update about 30 packages that dnf5 did not. I’m fairly new to both fedora and kde. Thankyou

I recommend asking this question on a Fedora forum.

DNF is a distribution tool.

dnf is an alias of dnf5 on Fedora 42 (in fact, on 41 and above).

So dnf update and dnf5 update are the same command. You can’t have done any harm by using one rather than the other. Any difference in results you got would be the result of running them at different times - whichever one you run later might have picked up newer updates.

Like @krake says, if you have additional questions or problems with this, the Fedora forum is the right place to post them.
