I recently installed KDE onto my laptop (Linux Mint) and when I try to open Vivaldi on it, it doesn’t do anything but it works just fine on Cinnamon. Also, recently when I logged in onto Plasma, it was a black screen with only my cursor, and I had to reinstall it entirely for it to work again. (glad it doesnt remove configurations)
vivaldi silent on plasma but fine on cinnamon is usually gpu/sandbox. from a terminal try:
vivaldi --disable-gpu
or
vivaldi --ozone-platform=x11
if either starts, leave hw accel off for a bit. also say if its flatpak or the deb.
black screen with only a cursor on login is a kwin/compositor fail. next time ctrl+alt+f3, log in, and grab:
journalctl --user -b --no-pager | tail -100
paste what vivaldi prints in the terminal when it fails.
Start it from an xterm and see what it says. Maybe it’s locked. If so simply delete the singleton lock files in the profile.
will take note of this if i have that issue with plasma again, neither of the commands for vivaldi did anything, opening vivaldi from the terminal says:

pretty new to linux, im not entirely sure what any of this means
yeah that GtkWidget / GtkBuildable spam is the deb fighting mint gtk libs under plasma. cinnamon keeps its own gtk stack so vivaldi is fine there.
try:
GTK_THEME=Adwaita vivaldi
or System Settings → Appearance → Application Style → Configure GNOME/GTK Application Style → set a plain theme like Adwaita or Breeze.
if it still dies, wipe ~/.config/vivaldi/Singleton* then launch again like Garg said.
flatpak vivaldi usually dodges this on mint+plasma.
i have the blackscreen again, i put the command in and could only really tell the last few errors were smth about DBus not responding or smth? idk, if you need me to like give you the full log or smth can you tell me how
for the black screen + dbus bit, from a tty (ctrl+alt+f3) after it dies:
journalctl -b -p err --no-pager | tail -120
journalctl -b --no-pager | rg -i ‘kwin|plasmashell|sddm|dbus’ | tail -80
systemctl --user status plasma-plasmashell.service --no-pager
paste those. also say if youre on wayland or x11 (echo $XDG_SESSION_TYPE from a working session).
(x11) my laptop died and when i charged it and booted it back up, plasma was working just fine??? idk what even happened
forgot to check if vivaldi works, but it works just fine now since i installed it from flatpak
