Wallpaper blues

Hello,

Have been using a Linux distro with a Plasma desktop for some time now, and generally I like it quite well, however, with every new version, the “default” wallpaper changes, and at least some of the older ones seem to be gone; now, Plasma 6.4 had a default wallpaper I liked, I believe it was called “Coast”, and I would prefer to keep it - but it has been replaced by the next ones.

Would there be a way to change this behaviour, and how to do it? I would prefer to decide myself if I want the replacement or not, as well as keep any of the older wallpapers that I want to hold on to - so, would there be any settings that can be changed, or another way to modify this?

Thanks.

Along with all the other past default wallpapers, Coast is still available in the plasma-workspace-wallpapers repo/package. If your distro doesn’t install it automatically, you’ll have to do so yourself.

I love Coast as well. It’s really nice.

You might also want to point your distro at Distributions/Packaging Recommendations - KDE Community Wiki .

Ummm… plasma not plama?!

Oops, I mis-spelled it. Corrected.

Thanks for replying; if I install the package, though, I imagine it will add the wallpapers, not change the replacing behaviour - would there be a way to configure this somehow?

The current default wallpaper is not included in this repository, but in Breeze. When a new default wallpaper is selected, the previous default will be moved to this repository.

It’s just a repository with the images, you can download Coast directly:

Well, ok - that I can see, but can I hold on to selected wallpaper, say, across updates, or will I need to adjust manually every time?
