It could be a good idea to display a warning in the top section of Dolphin when a user tries to copy the location of a file when inside of an archive.
This actually happened to me by accident when I was trying to copy the location of a Flash game downloaded from Flashpoint for use with Ruffle, and for a moment I was left wondering why the file couldn’t be loaded (Dolphin is very seamless with archives, which is both good and bad). I realized I was inside a zip file, and fair enough, after extracting it everything worked fine.
This is an opt-in feature if I recall correctly and the url will always show “ark://” IIRC.
The copy location could be disabled though indeed.
I would consider this very low priority.
Of course patch would be welcome.
Some display that we are not in the default “file:/” would be nice, not just for archives, but for “recentlyused:/” “admin:/” and others.
Yes – In the Navigation Preferences you have to enable “Open archives as folder” – and, with Dolphin Version 23.08.5 with this setting enabled, when I left-click on a .zip file in my home directory, the Location Bar content is:
zip: > home > Username > Archive File Name
Also, the Dolphin Window Title is displaying the File Name of the Archive.
