Wayland, Zoom and screen sharing

Hello everyone,

I have been unable to share my screen in Zoom and Google Meet for more than a year I think. It all started after one of the KDE Plasma 6 upgrades. Here is the problem:

I have two laptops, both running Debian Sid, KDE Plasma 6.5.4, KDE Frameworks 6.20.0, Qt 6.9.2, Wayland and Kernel 6.18.5+deb14-amd64 (64-bit). Both have identical package constellations and version numbers of Wayland, Kwin, X11, pipewire and sdg. In one I can share perfectly well, in the other not at all for over a year. Because I thought this was due to the earlier version of KDE Plasma on one, I avoided upgrading it for over a year until recently. But the Plasma version is certainly not the reason.

The version and the settings of Zoom is also identical on both.

The only difference I can see is this: In the non-working laptop, I get a red dot in my panel as soon as I share, and it allows me to end the sharing on KDE level. In the working one, I don’t.

Does anyone here have an idea what could be wrong? Happy to provide more information, if you know where to look.

TIA.

After a whole day of searching and tinkering finally solved it. For some what works seems to be rm -rf \~/.cache, but not for for me. For me it was the reinstallation of pipewire. All good now!
