I have a Tuxedo OS (based on 24.04) gaming desktop at home with the following setup:
Operating System: TUXEDO OS
KDE Plasma Version: 6.2.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.8.0
Qt Version: 6.8.1
Kernel Version: 6.11.0-108013-tuxedo (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: Wayland
Processors: 24 × AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 12-Core Processor
Memory: 62.7 GiB of RAM
Graphics Processor: AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT
Manufacturer: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd.
Product Name: X570S AORUS MASTER
System Version: -CF
The monitor that’s plugged into it that will be using HDR is MSI Optix MAG342CQR (1440p ultrawide) This setup has completely gray tint/dim output.
The one in my office is running on KDE Neon (with 6.11 kernel from Tuxedo OS repo) has the following:
Operating System: KDE neon 6.2
KDE Plasma Version: 6.2.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.8.0
Qt Version: 6.8.1
Kernel Version: 6.11.0-108013-tuxedo (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: Wayland
Processors: 12 × 11th Gen Intel® Core™ i5-11400 @ 2.60GHz
Memory: 30.6 GiB of RAM
Graphics Processor: AMD Radeon RX Vega
The GPU for this is Vega 56, and the monitor that will be using HDR is ASUS ProArt PA279CV. The output is bright, and colors truly feel like an improvement.
I already opened bug report 498289 & commented on the bug report in GitLab
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=498289
Just curious to know what the root cause is, and why the older AMD GPU is working fine.
