I’m using Slackware. It has 489 kde packages. Which of them do I need to install?
This is probably better answered by Slackware experts, as the specific things needed will depend on the distro and how each one splits up the source components and names their Plasma packages.
Thanks. I asked there first, days ago, got mostly grief, so I resorted to asking here. I hoped there was a distribution-agnostic understanding. Other Slackware packages are true to source.
Distributions/Packaging Recommendations - KDE Community Wiki is probably what you’re looking for.
Thanks. Can I run KDE without Plasma? I started with kdeinit5, kept on running it, resolving the errors, until I finally got it to run. It’s in the process list, ‘kdeinit5: Running…’ but I don’t see how to use it.
KDE is the name of the community that makes all this software; there is no “run KDE without Plasma.”
you can run whichever software you want.
