I am planning on forking Spectacle as per Make dependancy on tessdata optional again .
What counts as “branding”, so that I can remove it as per license requirements?
I don’t actually know
It might help if you specify which license requirement you are trying to comply with - searching the Spectacle repository in KDE Invent for “branding” comes back with no results, so it’s not immediately obvious what you’re referring to.
This isn’t a license thing, it’s a trademark thing. And “Spectacle” isn’t a registered trademark, but it’s clearly an unregistered one. From that perspective, I’d say the name, icon, and metadata (homepage, bug report URL, etc.) would need changing.
Thanks.
I’m guessing the name of the binary should also be changed to be on the safe side.
I’m guessing possibly the DBUS method names, because it won’t conform to all the expected method calls.
