At the top of my sequence is the timeline and two bars. The bottom bar is the zone I can define with in and out. The top bar I’ve circled (its maybe red, I’m colourblind), what is this defining?
This is the progress indicator for the timeline preview render. But since it’s red something must have gone wrong. Was there a message in the status bar at the bottom of the screen?
If you haven’t selected the “Automatic preview” checkbox, it will show red until you manually start a preview render (and then again any time that segment of timeline changes and requires re-rendering).
(I don’t recall if that’s enabled by default, but I have it disabled, so this is my ‘normal’.)
Thanks for both of your help. Now that I know it’s related to the preview render, I had to Remove All Preview Zones to remove it.
Additionally, when I clicked this, even though the red disappeared, if I closed and re-loaded the project it still wasn’t fixed. When you click Remove All Preview Zones it doesn’t mark the project as changed and the Save option is greyed out. So after adding a guide and then removing it and saving, the red no longer appears when I load the project.
Please file a bug about that bit, there’s a few of those where changing state that’s saved in the project file doesn’t toggle the modified flag, and most of them should be pretty easy to fix.
