When moving or copying files, the "apply to all" button should apply differently to each file conflict type.

When copying multiple files between directories at the same time, using dolphin for example, there are 3 types of file conflicts: exact copies, exact at the start, end and middle, and different files.

When selecting “apply to all” and then choosing an action, for example overwrite, the overwrite function will apply to all 3 types of conflicts.

I believe that having a separate button to apply this action only to that specific type of conflict could be much more helpful. This could allow, for example, to skip same files and overwrite different ones.

This could be further improved with choices depending on file age, last time accessed, etc, but I think that just the first part by itself could be of much help.

Feel free to open a bug for this.

We also lack the “overwrite only on perfect match” case.

hi, welcome.

the confirmation dialog is much improved in its communication with the user about what the differences are when doing a copy operation.

but the overwrite button is kind of a blunt instrument, to be sure.

you can just avoid checking the “apply to all” box and handle each one on your own (case by case), but it would be helpful to have a dropdown for different options when conditions vary from the first one presented.
