Where to go for how-to instructions or a Help link

Just started using KDE. I looked at the Wiki, but couldn’t find a simple guide for basic things, such as file transfers.

For instance, I seemingly transferred files from my PC to my Android phone, but can’t determine where the files landed. Ditto for files from the phone to the PC.

All I need is a URL and I can do the digging – but haven’t found a traditional Help file.

Thanks everyone.

Basically, if you transfer a file then it lands where you copy it to.

You need to give more specific information.

Documentation is difficult, because things change - I’d advise being more specific about the issue and issuing more specific searches.

Is this with KDE Connect?

You can see (and change) the destination folder like this:

  1. Go into the KDE Connect app on the receiving device
  2. Go to “Plugin Settings”
  3. Go to the “Share and receive” plugin and edit its settings

On PC:

On Android:

Yes on “KDE Connect.” Thanks for the tutorial – really helpful.

This is useful – it’s giving me a quickstart. Thanks for replying.

@SteveB:

First, welcome to the KDE Discuss Forums.

  • The younger generation don’t understand the message header on this Post … :smiling_face_with_horns:

The “official” KDE documentation for “KDE Connect” is more than a little aged but, there’s a Wiki entry –

As well as and also, the application itself is fairly self-explanatory »no apologies for the German language in the Screenshots« –

LOL – young people nowadays… I’ve been doing this since 1985 (hello, batch files?). I guess I was impatient using KDE, but after reading the two other posts, and some help from Grok, I was able to figure out most things.

My only goal is pushing files and images from the phone to the PC and vice versa, and it turns out that LocalSend serves my needs a little better. I can easily add my tablet, my wife’s phone, PC, and tablet, and anything else that’s on the local network to LocalSend. It’s an easy-to-use wormhole.
