Why does Kdenlive ignore the front marker when extracting zone?

I am trying to cut down a clip ever so slightly. I Set Zone In, Set Zone Out, Extract Zone, get this screen, which displays the correct time that the clip would be if it was extracted properly.

And yet, instead of ending up with a 33 second clip, I get a 35 second one. It starts from the same place as the previous clip. This is a frequent issue I don’t understand the mechanics of. Sometimes it works. Other times it doesn’t. Am I stupid?

Hi @crazycrazything, and welcome to the forum and community.

To help us help you please state your OS, version of Kdenlive, and the installation method.

Do you know what sources you are using when this happens and when it doesn’t? Is this a random experience or can it be narrowed down to a specific project? The reason I’m asking is because perhaps the frame rate (variable, fixed) may be the cause.

Hello. I am on Linux Mint, using version 25.12.1 from the AppImage. I’m only currently using Kdenlive for the sake of some work I must do, so I’m in the weeds here a little. The only footage I’m using has been recordings from OBS. The most I can say is that it may be the case that clips that themselves came from extracting zones from other clips are the ones that cause this issue. The clips themselves are the same frame size and and rate as the project is set to.
