Windows Intel QSV support in standard Windows build

Hi Kdenlive Team,

Thank you for your great work on Kdenlive!

I’m using it on Windows with an Intel GPU and want to utilize hardware-accelerated encoding. For example for reencoding videos I use FFmpeg (from gyan.dev) with -vcodec hevc_qsv for faster encoding (it’s static build).

I noticed Kdenlive lacks QSV support. I tried using gyan.dev’s FFmpeg binaries, but Kdenlive also requires melt.exe with knowledge of hevc_qsv. Shotcut’s Windows build includes melt and ffmpeg with QSV support, but it doesn’t work with Kdenlive due to DLL conflicts (other dependencies in DLLs - different versions of same DLL libraries).

I considered building Kdenlive myself but don’t want to do this for every update of Kdenlive. Are there any Kdenlive builds with QSV support or a static melt.exe build available (but would it help to solve my issue - static build of melt.exe)?

For me only other option is to stop using Kdenlive and use paid SW.
I’m sad about that but telling myself, stop wasting your time with solving too many problems…
It’s sad tha Shotcut has such build and Kdenlive not.

Thanks for your help!

Best regards,
Juraj

I agree - there is an NVENC hardware accelerated build but not QSV. Shotcut, OBS Studio all support QSV. Kdenlive is just too slow to use without this,
