I don’t think this is a good choice for default wallpaper. There were better entries among the finalists.

I would expect a more neutral default background image and also more accent to KDE colours (blue, white). The problem with drawings like this is that it is easy to like or hate it. If you are not a big fan of saturated cartoons, you will not like it and perceive as extremely childish. KDE targets wider audience. This wallpaper would be perfect for some specifically targeted distro, just like you have Hannah Montana Linux. …

It’s funny to see people who waited till the contest is over and the winner has been announced to show up here for the first time and crash the party.

If I’m not mistaken, this is the first/second time you’ve seen the winning picture here. I also don’t see a link or who the creator is. Just because someone gives their opinion doesn’t ruin the party.
I don’t see a “plasma” reference in it either.
What the heck, the graphics are good, especially the enhancements.
