I have worked as a software developer since 1994 (apart from a couple of years as an analyst), but have mostly worked with application-specific languages - such as SAP’s ABAP.

I started using Linux in 2001 after 7 years as an OS/2 user, but am not technically skilled for such a long-time user. YaST in openSUSE (and previously SuSE) has rescued me from having to dive too much into the details. While I previously used to install the latest and greatest I am now too dependent on my laptop as a tool both for job-related and volunteer work and will sacrifice the latest and greatest to have a stable system.

Apart from my interest in computers (since a while before I bought my first one in 1983, a Commodore 64), archery has been a hobby.
Before we had Google there was therefore Kjetil Kilhavn’s List of Archery Links, distributed on Usenet first and later also created on the web in the mid-1990s. All of that is lost now, however, as are thousands of documents, images and emails thanks to my non-existing backup routines.
