24.08.2 crashes on project load

Ubuntu 24.10 all up to date, Kdenlive 24.08.2

I created a number of projects and saved them, video recordings of a conference. Later when I opened them to continue editing, Kdenlive started, read in the project files and immediately closed.

It opens older project files OK.

When I start from a terminal, I see these errors after the clips are loaded:

qrc:/qml/timeline.qml:519: ReferenceError: proxy is not defined
qrc:/qml/timeline.qml:499: ReferenceError: proxy is not defined
==== NO PREVIOUS TIMELINE

root context get sub model new function
Segmentation fault (core dumped)

Is this something to do with missing or corrupted proxies? Is there a way that I can manually edit the xml to remove the references to proxies? Or is there a different problem?

I’m getting the same on Windows. I’ve gone back to the previous version for now.

I went back to 24.08.1 Kdenlive 24.08.1 in the Archive? for this reason too. If I start from the Terminal the errors include several:
qrc:/qml/Ruler.qml:107: ReferenceError: proxy is not defined
…before ending with “Segmentation fault”

This happens during the Building sequences stage of reading the kdenlive file.

Same for me on Windows 10. I also reverted back to 24.08.1

Update, since upgrading from 32Gb to 64Gb RAM I now get an error message before Kdenlive crashes. Unfortunately when I click OK it still closes.

Based on this I found a way to fix it. I opened the Kdenlive file in a text editor, removed all the lines relating to proxy files and saved. When opening in Kdenlive, it threw up an error about all the clips missing, I then allowed it to find all the missing clips and it opened correctly.

24.08.3 is available for download now. Haven’t tried it yet, but hopefully this will be fixed.

Confirmed all fixed in 24.08.3. Thanks to the dev team for a quick response.
