Today marks both a milestone and a turning point in my journey with open source software. I’m proud to announce the release of KDE Gear 25.08.0 as my final snap package release. You can find all the details about this exciting update at the official KDE announcement.
Thank you for your decades of contributions, Scarlett. Single-handedly (literally) maintaining all these packages and distros is no less than a feat into itself.
Just a question, there was a Plasma/Snap - KDE Community Wiki of the plasma shell itself. It allowed installing bleeding edge plasma on another distro separately from my main plasma install. This was something flatpak or appimage couldn’t ever achieve (without major rework, obviously, which would be a whole new format with just the flatpak name). Will this be available through the new CI for snap?
