A little UX/UI fix

Every time i open password protected archive this pointless window shows up. It doesn’t provide any usefull information, it doesn’t do anything but obstruct user from entering the password.

There should not be shown any windows or notifications until extraction or copying files started.

Here is two screenshots to help you understand what i’m talking about

Uncheck “Show in notification” first

Then you will see this

P.S. Sorry for my bad English

What is the environment you are using ?

This windows shouldn’t appear in KDE Plasma with breeze.
There is still an issue.

I can replicate in latest KDE Linux (with standard Breeze).

Kubuntu 26.04

KDE Plasma 6.6.6 (with Breeze, yup)
KDE Frameworks 6.24.0
Qt 6.10.2
Kernel 7.0.0-31-generic (64-bit)
Wayland

You’ve hit a super-specific edge case that can only happen when opening password-protected archives with the setting to show job progress in notifications turned off.

Perhaps we could only register the job with the notification server after the password has been entered.

I’m actually seeing this even with that setting turned on:

Then you have same information twice! Well, actually three times (dialog, notification, main window status bar).

I’m actually questioning the usefulness of the dialog then, which if deemed unneeded, would as a by-product fix this issue.

I feel like this shouldn’t appear before requesting the password and it shouldn’t be a dialog, but the progress bar should probably stay.

It could simply be shown in the application view (which is empty anyway).

The same thing happens if you try to copy or move a file into a folder where an identical file already exists.
What’s worse is that the pop-up also shows a ‘Pause’ button as if an action is in progress.
