Hi, I am new to KDE and linux in general. I did try to make sure this wasn’t a duplicate question.
I am having three distinct issues with my monitor setup. I want to preface by saying I have no idea how to reproduce these errors, they just… happen.
The first error, sometimes KDE will swap my primary and secondary monitor with each other (that is, my primary will become my secondary and vise versa, and their positions will be swapped as well), followed by making the now secondary (formerly primary) monitor have a resolution of 640x480 (it should be 1920x1080); the only reliable fix I’ve found was restarting.
Second, sometimes one of my monitors, typically my secondary but sometimes primary, will just freeze. The computer still works, I can still use my unfrozen monitor no problems. Again, the only reliable fix I’ve found was restarting.
Third, on startup, I am presented on my primary monitor with an “input not supported” box, which then goes away upon logging in through my secondary monitor.
Fixes attempted:
- System updates
- Switching to X11 (presented more problems, such as my system not respecting the monitor layout I gave it and resetting for no reason)
- Switching from open source drivers to nvidia drivers; problems persisted.
Here is some info on my computer:

I’d like to add that display 1 (resolution 1) is running through a DP port (not sure which version) whereas the latter is running through HDMI.
Any help would be appreciated!
