I calibrated my monitor using the DisplayCal program in KDE Plasma 6.3.6, Wayland session (Debian unstable).
The following results were obtained for the differences between the measured colours and the reference samples (testing was carried out without activating the obtained ICC profile in the system):
That’s ok
But when I activate the calibrated ICC profile on the system and re-test the ICC profile in DisplayCal, I expect to get the following result (where, as a result of re-applying the profile, the color space is expanded even more):
But I get the following result with 100% sRGB color saturation: absolute disregard for the ICC calibration profile and a slight loss of color saturation that is visually visible. (The gray outline shows the color range that should have been there, and the colored outline shows the range obtained as a result of testing.)
With 0% sRGB color saturation, the loss of color saturation will be very noticeable, which is basically normal, unlike the previous situation, where the colors should match completely, but the ICC profile is still ignored.
At the same time, programs such as GIMP or Krita apply the resulting calibration color profile absolutely correctly in my opinion when the system does not have a calibration profile. (It is visually clear that these programs do not change the saturation of red, green, blue at all and significantly change their gradient with white, making the absolutely saturated color zone smaller, and significantly change the intermediate colors, as expected).
The impossibility of correctly outputting a calibration profile in the system greatly limits the possibilities of working with color, since not all programs have the ability to install an independent profile and this has to be done manually.
What is the problem associated with? How can it be fixed? If this is a system bug (or feature), is it planned to fix it? If so, in what approximate time frame should we expect a fix?
